Contending For The Faith
God's Word lifts up the Local Church in God's unchanging plan to redeem His People and perfect the Saints. However, it's position has been eroded in recent years.
Powerful digital technologies and "online church" have brought many opportunities but also present challenges. The pandemic also seemed to create a new cohort of genuine believers who were no longer willing to obey The Lord and be in a covenantal relationship as active members of a faithful Local Church.
The widespread rejection of all forms of authority in society at large, has been another factor. But this should not be so for the Lord's people. The Lord Jesus Christ loves His church and gave Himself sacrificially for it. So must we.

The attitude of believers to the Local Church has changed very rapidly in the digital age. Several factors have contributed to this. It is time to restore our love, affection
and commitment to the Local Church.
What is the Biblical definition of the Local as opposed to the International Church? How does it fit into God's eternal plan for His people and kingdom and why do we even need it in the modern age?
Many opportunities have arisen in the digital age to minister to those who are unable to attend in person. With online media the Gospel may be proclaimed in countries hostile to the Christian Faith. However could there be something wrong with the "internet church?"
Membership of a Local Church enters us into a vital covenantal relationship that is full of blessing and opportunity as well as accountability and responsibility. Using the Biblical Church Metaphors we will show the importance, health and spiritual safeguarding of Church Membership for all earnest believers.
By examining the history of various well-known Independent Churches down through the centuries we will identify and learn the stand-out features of the Local Church in times of great blessing as well in periods of decline.
Many Pastors have over-stepped the line in recent years, in the mega churches. What authority does the Local Church possess? What are the appointed offices? What are the Golden Rules in governing? What roles are Church Officers to take in leading, taking initiative and administering order and discipline?
What happens when things so wrong? How should matters be resolved? When is it the right time to leave my Local Church? In this session examples of the types of characters and damaging conduct which may threaten the unity and blessings of a Local Church shall be given.
